Thyme Out Food Services

Bernie Katz, CEO Bernie Katz founded Thyme Out Food Services in September 1989 when he began operating the corporate cafeteria at Best Products corporate headquarters in Henrico County. Since then, the company has been able to carve out a significant niche in Richmond's corporate food service business by offering quality fresh foods and personalized service.
Prior to founding Thyme Out, Katz served as manager for high-profile restaurants like Bird-in-Hand and the Tobacco Company. Katz also served as catering director for The Butlery.

Doris KatzThyme Out competes against national companies that dominate the corporate food service industry. But while other operators serve the kind of pre-prepared institutional dishes that give cafeteria food a less-than-favorable reputation, Thyme Out offers fresh foods prepared on-site. Thyme Out is also a family-run business, with Doris Katz, Bernie's mother, serving as a key member of his staff. She's frequently found manning food counters or cash registers. With management so closely in tune with the company's staff and customers, Thyme Out distinguishes itself from its competition through its ability to offer personalized service.

Lynda Gallagher, Director of OperationsLynda Gallagher, our Director of Operations has over 15 years experience in food service and hospitality management. Lynda Gallagher was general manager for the Olive Garden restaurant, employed by General Mills for five years, previously Mrs. Gallagher managed Cimarron Hospitality Corporation in both the restaurant and catering divisions. She attended Radford University and studied sociology and business administration, but quickly realized that food service was her niche in life.
Lynda began her employment with Thyme Out Food Services in January, 1995 as a Food Service Director. As Thyme Out began to grow, Mrs. Gallagher expressed interest in creating and filling the position of Director of Operations. Lynda oversees all daily operations in each cafe, including interviewing, hiring, training and development, and menu creation for each cafe.
